Nashville Sounds Suffer Historic Loss Despite Strong Pitching Performance
Nashville, TN ? In a disappointing 2-1 defeat against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, the Nashville Sounds experienced their seventh consecutive loss on Sunday at First Horizon Park. This defeat marked an unprecedented event for the team, as they were swept in a six-game series for the first time in their history.
The Sounds initially took the lead in the first inning when Steward Berroa hit a double and scored due to a throwing error. Carlos Rodriguez delivered an impressive performance, striking out six batters over five scoreless innings. However, the Jumbo Shrimp turned the game around in the sixth inning, scoring two runs after loading the bases and capitalizing on a key hit by Andrew Pintar.
Although Nashville had a chance to tie the game in the eighth with runners on base, they were unable to capitalize, and the game ended in a 2-1 victory for Jacksonville. The Sounds will take a break before heading to Durham, NC, for a six-game series against the Durham Bulls, starting Tuesday at 5:35pm CT.
